Two Months!

Zachary James is two months old, which means we have only been home in NC with him for one month...hard to believe since it feels like there was never a time he was not part of our family!

We have had a busy month, with lots of fun visitors. My mom and sister were here from August 2nd-August 5th and it was so much fun on Zac's first trip out shopping. Nana loved her snuggles with little man, and Aunt Autumn loved reading and doing tummy time. My cousins, Tonya and Savannah, also drove down from Virginia to see Zac and hang out for a day! A big thanks to Autumn and Tonya for completing our fundraiser puzzle that helped get our sweet boy home!

5 weeks old!

August 6th: We had a fun 5 week old birthday! We had a lifestyle photoshoot to get pictures of Zac and the three of us as a family. Zac also helped his daddy celebrate turning the big 3-0! He is great when we take him out to eat...loving dinner dates just like mommy and daddy!

August 8th was a special day too..Yes, Aunt Autumn turned 21 but we got to celebrate Zac's arrival with my 7th grade  8th grade small group girls. It was an incredibly special night, having these girls, ones that have so innocently and sweetly prayed for us and our baby through the adoption process, throw us a fun shower! It was even better to hear them pray for the baby boy that is now here in our arms, and to be able to talk about adoption, God's provision and His faithfulness through it all. I pray that as they continue their walks with Christ, that they too remember this moment, but more importantly that they see the faithfulness and love of God in their own lives, despite circumstances!! I love you girls so very much! Thanks for blessing us with a sweet shower!

6 Weeks Old!
August 13th: 6 weeks old! Growing so fast and getting cuter by the day!

We took Zachary to church for the first time on August 14th! Here's what I shared on Facebook that I thought is worth repeating here:

One of my favorite days so far-Zac's first day to church!! God used our fertility journey to lead us to the Summit when we moved here and I have spent many Sundays crying out to the Lord and seeking him through the hard days for His plan in growing our family. This morning brought joyful tears as His grace & faithfulness shown bright as we got to praise our Father with our precious son in our arms!! #adoption is beautiful #Gods grace #dayswithzacharyjames

Auntie Vicky, my best friend that lives in CA, got to come visit on August 18th for several days, so Auntie Amanda also came to stay with her two girls. These two have walked with me every step of my fertility journey, and I have been blessed to be a part of their children's births. It was so special to have them love on our son the way I have been blessed to love on their girls!
Auntie Vicky is here!
August 20th: 7 weeks old!! Thanks to Addy loving the Marbles Kids Museum, and Brett loving it as much as her, Zac got to go on his first trip there too!

Addy loves Uncle Brett!
She even wants to marry him!

Brett's parents came to visit on August 26th and stayed through September 1st! Zac enjoyed spending time with Grammy and Grandpa Doc, & mommy and daddy got to enjoy a date night out (movie date to see Bad Moms...and yes, I did cry! Something about being a mom now makes me emotional about everything...ok, I was already emotional before Z, but now it's amplified!)

8 weeks old!
August 27th: 8 weeks old and getting such a little personality! He is so strong...loves tummy time on mommy and daddy and kicking those legs! He is actually scooting on his mat and managed to maneuver himself from Daddy's chest to this!

I know everyone has differing views on this, but because of our stay in NICU and the infection that Zac had, we were unable to do his circumcision there in Orlando, and instead had to wait until we were able to see someone here in Raleigh.  That did not happen until August 31st! Although it was obviously later than usual, we went in for that procedure on the 31st and Zac did awesome! Needed a few extra snuggles but mommy didn't mind =)

And our last visitors for the month included my mom and dad arriving on the 1st (yes, right after Brett's parents left! Told you we had lots of visitors but we wouldn't have it any other way! We are so blessed by amazing friends and family and are so thankful for our parents, not only for the countless hours and prayers it took to raise us but for helping raise up our precious son now!

So with such a busy month, we now have a growing, happy, strong 2 month old on our hands!!

*Updated on 9/12 after our 2 month appointment:
2 month stats: 14 lbs 7 oz, 23 in long
Eating 4-5 oz every 3 hours and dropped a feeding at night!! =)
Loves mornings and smiling more every day!
Starting to find his thumb

**Stay tuned for the next post to be not as informative and more on what the Lord has been teaching me in the last month!

"Their Hearts are Steadfast, Trusting in the Lord"

A verse I had no idea would grow to mean so much to me! I wrote this post over a week ago now, just late posting! July 21, 2015 One month-It has been exactly one month since I've seen and talked to my Granny.  I have thought about what I have wanted to write in this post a million times, and a million times more have wanted to sit down and write it, but never could bring myself to do so. Well, I got my hair cut yesterday and all I could hear is my Granny saying, "Your Papa would be maaadd at you" and "Nooo you didn't cut it off". And again this morning, as I made my coffee, I am laughing at the last time I fixed coffee for my Granny. It was the week of June 15th and I was staying with her. I made coffee for myself and convinced her to try it.  It was way  too strong (Thank you Keurig for taking away my ability to make coffee in a regular pot). Granny responded with "oooo that's bitter" but then came the "it'll be alright...just a...

Answered Prayer

The news we have been waiting for... We are MATCHED!!! This last week has been a beautiful whirlwind as we received news on Monday that an expectant mom, "K", that we had presented to wanted to talk with Brett and I on the phone to "confirm" us as the family chosen to parent her sweet baby. The Lord continues to be in every detail and we are so overwhelmed by His grace and faithfulness! We received an email that they were looking for a couple to match with this mom back in March. We were presenting to another expectant mom at the time so were unable to have our profile shown to her then. We did not match with the mom we presented to at that time and received two no's before our consultant sent an email saying that K had not matched with anyone yet, and they were reaching back out to see if any other families were interested. We of course said YES, and all I could think about was that she didn't match in March because that was our baby...I also said ...

Like Arrows in the Hand of a Warrior...

All Scripture is God-Breathed... "Behold children are a heritage from the Lord...Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are children of one's youth." Ps. 127:3-4 I received this necklace in the mail a few weeks ago from a sweet friend...A perfect gesture at the perfect time to mark not only the journey the Lord was bringing us through, but to also remember our sweet babies. I have wanted to start this blog for quite some time, but couldn't find the words to perfectly convey all the Lord has placed on my heart over the last few months. But here I am...a day off of school for the snow and snuggled on my couch with a cup of coffee, ready to tell you our story on what would be the mark of 17 weeks today with these little ones.  There have been so many nights in the last few months that I have tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep despite pure exhaustion-due in part to physical and mental exhaustion from teaching high school math, but mostly due to pure e...
