Answered Prayer

The news we have been waiting for...
We are MATCHED!!!

This last week has been a beautiful whirlwind as we received news on Monday that an expectant mom, "K", that we had presented to wanted to talk with Brett and I on the phone to "confirm" us as the family chosen to parent her sweet baby. The Lord continues to be in every detail and we are so overwhelmed by His grace and faithfulness!

We received an email that they were looking for a couple to match with this mom back in March. We were presenting to another expectant mom at the time so were unable to have our profile shown to her then. We did not match with the mom we presented to at that time and received two no's before our consultant sent an email saying that K had not matched with anyone yet, and they were reaching back out to see if any other families were interested. We of course said YES, and all I could think about was that she didn't match in March because that was our baby...I also said I was sure that there were other families that probably felt the same way.

It has taken any where from 2 days to 2 weeks to hear back from a mom about whether we were chosen or another family would be expecting their sweet baby, so we kept praying and waiting on the answer. K received our profile on Wednesday, April 20th and we prayed again for the mom, to know love from the Lord and to be at peace with her decision, for a healthy baby to grow to know the love of two moms, but more importantly the Lord, and for both the family chosen to have hearts ready for this baby, and for the families not chosen to continue to trust the Lord. On Monday, I saw at the end of softball practice that I had a missed call from our consultant, Leah, along with a text saying call me when you get a chance. I knew this was good news that we have been waiting to hear!!

Leah told me that the expectant mom loved our profile and wanted a phone call with us on Tuesday night. I was super excited and nervous...nothing can prepare you for the overwhelming feelings that come with knowing that a mother has not only considered you as a parent for her little one, but is possibly choosing you for such a role-one we have prayed for for so long!! God's grace!!!

I sat in the nursery Monday night, reading my Bible, trying to journal about the moment and praying for our little one that we will be bringing home to that room. Brett came upstairs when he got home and I got to share the news with him in the nursery!

We were both nervous for the phone call and tons of questions went through our heads, but it couldn't have gone better! We already love this sweet mama and cannot wait to see how the Lord uses this relationship. Conversation was awkward at first but it didn't take long to share our life stories (she's an open book like me!) and cry and laugh together. She had questions for us and we talked about so much. It felt natural and comfortable. We look forward to planning a drive to meet her for the first time soon.

We received an email on Thursday that it was a confirmed match and we spent the afternoon calling Brett's family and some of our closest friends. I was heading to AL for the weekend so wanted to wait to tell my family in person. It was super hard to keep such awesome news, but it was totally worth it to see their faces and hug them in person over the sweet news!!!

Now that family knows, we are excited to share with the world that we will be bringing home our son or daughter around July 22! We are thrilled but ask that you continue to pray for us and K. There are no guarantees in this process and she can choose to parent at any moment until papers are signed after birth. We want to love her well no matter what happens and pray the Lord is glorified in our relationship with K.

With such great news, also comes the reality that we are still $11,000 away from having the adoption fully paid for. These fees have to be paid within 30 days. We know the Lord will complete the work He has started and will provide, so we are asking that you consider giving to help us in bringing our baby home!! Follow this link to support us financially:

Thanks for continuing to pray alongside of us for this sweet blessing! We will share more details as we continue preparing to become parents in less than 3 months!!!

"Their Hearts are Steadfast, Trusting in the Lord"

A verse I had no idea would grow to mean so much to me! I wrote this post over a week ago now, just late posting! July 21, 2015 One month-It has been exactly one month since I've seen and talked to my Granny.  I have thought about what I have wanted to write in this post a million times, and a million times more have wanted to sit down and write it, but never could bring myself to do so. Well, I got my hair cut yesterday and all I could hear is my Granny saying, "Your Papa would be maaadd at you" and "Nooo you didn't cut it off". And again this morning, as I made my coffee, I am laughing at the last time I fixed coffee for my Granny. It was the week of June 15th and I was staying with her. I made coffee for myself and convinced her to try it.  It was way  too strong (Thank you Keurig for taking away my ability to make coffee in a regular pot). Granny responded with "oooo that's bitter" but then came the "it'll be alright...just a...

Seeing Pink : Feelings/Fears Finding out + Being an advocate for yourself

November 14, 2019 18 weeks  pregnant…12 weeks  + 2 days longer than my first pregnancy. 14 weeks + 2 days  since seeing those two pink lines for the second time in my life, for the first time without fertility intervention. And the first time I’ve been able to sit down and try to gather and write out thoughts and try to wrap my head around all the work the Lord has done (and continues to do) in my heart during this pregnancy. While these words will be raw and confusing and hard and joyful, I want to have them to look back on as a tangible reminder of this season and of the Father’s pursuit of my heart. I also want to share them because while no two stories are the same, I know there may be someone with whom this will resonate, and prayerfully encourage! Part 1: Feelings/Fears Finding out + Being an advocate for yourself It was the first full cycle post endometriosis and a d&c (to check uterus for infection) when we found out we were pregnant. And...
